Over the course of the pandemic we’ve all experienced the importance of connection. Many of us have learned new ways of connecting with each other, whether it be through a Zoom call, Instagram post, or a good old fashioned letter.
Connection is nothing new for Allisonians. We see it in the Alumni Engagement Office every day through phone calls, letters, e-mails, alumni’s regular return to campus for Reunion and Convocation weekends (when possible of course), and more recently, tags and mentions across social platforms.
In the Alumni Engagement Office, we’ve worked to continue to share alumni and University news with graduates across the decades through a number of methods. This has included a strategic approach to growing our social media channels and continuing to celebrate your news and successes in new and innovative ways.
Recent online updates include:
- Alumni Facebook page — up by more than 300 followers in the past year. The Facebook platform is also the home our new book club and an online event that welcomed 100 Allisonians and friends for the Nov. 4 launch of The Sound of Fire by Renée Belliveau (’17).
- LinkedIn — an increase of more than 1,000 alumni and connections and an important tool for the MtA Café program.
- We have launched our new alumni livestream called Made Mounties on LinkedIn. Make sure to join our faculty, who will be joined by former students, to discuss the intersection of their teaching, research, and certainty with the professional and personal lives of our alumni.
- The launch of the Alumni Engagement Instagram account sharing alumni and University news and also serving as a platform for Class Connections submissions through direct message.
Through these channels we’ve seen our network of engaged alumni grow around the world and across decades and degree programs.
