Annual Maclean’s magazine rankings see university ranked first in a number of areas

SACKVILLE, NB – Mount Allison University had many reasons to celebrate with the release of the 2020 Maclean’s magazine’s University Rankings, released on Oct. 3.

Macleans_rankings_2020_studentsatisfactionAlong with being named the top undergraduate school in Canada for a record 21st time, the University also received top marks in the Student Satisfaction survey, receiving first place for course instructors, experiential learning, extracurricular activities, student life staff, and administrative staff.

“Mount Allison strives to put our students at the centre of everything we do, both in and outside the classroom,” says University Vice-President, International and Student Affairs Kim Meade. “Reports like these, in addition to maintaining clear and open communication directly with our students, help us focus on areas we should improve on and what services and programs are beneficial.”

Mount Allison ranked second in the country for undergraduate universities for academic advising and residence living, third for mental health services, fifth for steps to prevent sexual assault, and sixth for promoting indigenous visibility.

Part of the annual Maclean’s university rankings, the student satisfaction survey saw more than 18,000 university students respond to the online survey, giving their opinions on professors and staff, residence life, and opportunities for extracurricular activities, experiential learning, as well as topical issues such as student services including mental health, sexual violence response and prevention, and Indigenous visibility on campus and in the curriculum.

The University also received top rankings in the magazine’s Overall Reputation Survey, which includes views on quality and innovation from university faculty, senior administrators, high school guidance counsellors, and business leaders from across Canada.
