The Choral Society is a non-auditioned choir of mixed voices with a membership of approximately 50 members. Singers typically include students enrolled in Music and other Mount Allison programs, faculty and staff members from the University community, as well as singers from the Sackville, Amherst and Moncton areas. All are welcome!

The music varies from large choral works to smaller pieces around a specific theme. Past works presented by the Choral Society include: Gabriel Fauré's Messe BasseFrostiana by Randall Thompson, Old American Songs by Aaron Copland, a set of works by Ben Allaway, Pinkham's Christmas CantataChichester Psalms by Leonard Bernstein, Psalm 150 by Schutz, John Rutter's GloriaThe Armed Man by Karl Jenkins, spirituals, and excerpts from operas. The Choral Society looks forward to presenting Brahms' Schicksalslied in their upcoming fall season, in collaboration with the New Brunswick Choral Federation.

Registration

No auditions are necessary to join the Choral Society. Interested students and community members should attend the first rehearsal (7:00 p.m. on the first Tuesday of classes in September) to be registered. Returning students can register themselves on Self-Service.
