Location: MYB Conservatory Room 004 [Band Room]

Comprised of students from all departments of the university, as well as members of the local community, the chamber orchestra performs works both for full orchestra as well as for string orchestra.  The ensemble is a great way for those with some experience or training to continue to grow musically and have fun. The MtA Chamber Orchestra (2021-2022) is directed by Prof. Mark Kleyn.

Auditions will be streamlined this year. Returning orchestra members are encouraged to submit an audio or video recording. New students and community players can submit a video recording or audition live. Recordings for new members can be sent directly to Professor Mark Kleyn at
NOTE: if auditioning by recorded video/audio, please send your audition in before September 7, 2021. 

For those auditioning in person, auditions will be held Tuesday, September 7, 5:00pm-7:00 pm. Please contact Prof. Mark Kleyn at to schedule your specific audition time.  

Audition Requirements

1.    A 2-octave, or where possible 3-octave scale of your choice. 8th notes at quarter=60, up and down.
2.    One piece of your choice that best demonstrates your musical and technical skill level. This should be something with which you are comfortable.

First Rehearsal

First Chamber Orchestra meeting will be Thursday, Sept. 9, 7:00 pm in the Band Room (004). Everyone interested in playing in Chamber Orchestra should come, with your instrument, whether or not you have auditioned. During this first meeting, we will rehearse, and we will cover important information relevant to the year.
