The danger of being swept off your feet is that you might end up under water… From the depths of three bathtubs emerge Bessie, Alice, and Margaret: the murdered wives of George Joseph Smith. The true story of their lives and deaths is equal parts gothic fantasy, social critique, and revenge ritual. The breathless brides are here to reclaim their voice. Come on in, the water’s fine…

UBU 2024 (comedy)

By Alfred Jarry, Alex Fancy, and Tintamarre: Mount Allison’s bilingual theatre troupe
January 31st – February 3rd, 2024 |
7:30pm nightly
Running time: 75 minutes (one-act)
Motyer-Fancy Theatre

The opening was a mob scene. Some spectators were delighted, others infuriated. Amidst insults and jostling, the police were called.  Nobody thought UBU, inspired by schoolboys who lampooned an authoritarian teacher, would affect the course of European theatre.  But can the playful monster be unleashed on stage more than a century later?  Some actors are about to find out.  A comedic concoction of English and French spiced up, UBU style, with some brand-new words.

THE JULIET PROJECT (dramedy)

Arguably the world’s most famous play, Romeo and Juliet has provided the heartbeat for ‘star-crossed’ lovers throughout the centuries.
